Yes or No? Chairman Smith Asks: Do Florida Republicans Continue to Support Ryan’s Plan to End Medicare as We Know It?
As Paul Ryan doubles-down on Republican budget in speech yesterday, will Florida Republicans continue to support a plan that even Newt Gingrich says is too extreme?
As Rep. Paul Ryan and Speaker John Boehner double-down on the Republican plan to end Medicare as we know it, do Republicans in Florida still agree it is the best path forward? Paul Ryan attempted to spin the Republican budget – one that even Newt Gingrich says is too extreme – in a speech yesterday to the Economic Club in Chicago. In response, Florida Democratic Party Chairman Rod Smith released the following statement:
“It’s a very simple question – do Florida Republicans continue to support a budget that ends Medicare as we know it, slashes Medicaid and education, and eliminates the Affordable Care Act, all while giving tax breaks to billionaires and oil companies?”
“This budget shows clearly where the priorities of the Republican Party are – they care about helping the wealthiest Americans while leaving seniors and those who need help the most to fend for themselves. The question is: do the Republicans in Florida still embrace a plan that even Newt Gingrich says is too extreme?”
