Chairman Smith Blasts Pawlenty For Refusing To “Take A Direct Stand” On Paul Ryan Budget That Ends Medicare As We Know It

The Associated Press reported today that self proclaimed truth teller Tim Pawlenty “did not take a direct stand” on whether, as President, he would sign into law the Ryan budget that would end Medicare as we know it.  In response to Pawlenty’s refusal to take a stand today, Florida Democratic Party Chairman Rod Smith released the following statement:

“Tim Pawlenty promised to tell Floridians the hard truths, yet failed to ‘take a direct stand’ on whether he would sign the Paul Ryan budget plan to end Medicare as President. Floridians deserve to know if Pawlenty supports the GOP plan to make Florida seniors pay $7,358 because that’s how much their plan to end Medicare as we know it would cost the average Florida senior,” said Chairman Smith. “The millions of Florida seniors who depend on Medicare simply won’t forgive Tim Pawlenty for refusing today to tell them if he supports the Paul Ryan plan.”
