Today, the Florida Democratic Party released its second ad against Rick Scott, holding him to account for his misguided cuts to schools and tuition hikes to colleges.
Rick Scott wants Floridians to believe that he is on the side of middle class families who depend on public schools and colleges, but independent fact-checkers have already said that’s not accurate. In a new ad, tilted “Why,” the Florida Democratic Party is holding Rick Scott accountable for putting the wealthy special interests first, and public education last.
“To build Florida’s economy of the future, our public education system must be the best in the world. But Rick Scott just doesn’t get it. He cut public schools by $1.3 billion and hiked tuition at 11 public colleges in order to pay for even more tax breaks for wealthy special interests. A quality, affordable education is the best path to the middle class for millions of Floridians, but Rick Scott keeps the doors of opportunity closed. That’s why Floridians just can’t trust Rick Scott. Florida’s children deserve better than Rick Scott — they deserve a governor who will be on their side,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesman Joshua Karp.
