Bernie Sanders and Tom Perez Include Florida Stop on “Come Together and Fight Back Tour”
The Senator and DNC Chairman will speak to the economic issues affecting Florida families
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Democratic National Committee Tom Perez will stop in Miami during their “Come Together and Fight Back” tour. The visit to Florida is one of several stops throughout the country. The rally will be at the James L. Knight Center on April 19th. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP.
Senator Sanders and Chairman Perez will address issues of special importance to Floridians, including raising the minimum wage, immigration reform, healthcare, education and climate change. “We are excited that Florida was included in this national tour,” said FDP Chair Stephen Bittel. “Florida is the largest swing state in the country and the resistance movement against Republicans and their harmful and discriminatory policies is stronger than ever throughout the state. I look forward to welcoming Senator Sanders and Chairman Perez and working with them to turn Florida blue.”
Sanders and Perez stated: “At a time of massive income and wealth inequality and a shrinking middle class, we need a government which represents all Americans, not just Wall Street, multi-national corporations and the top 1 percent. Regardless of where they live or their political affiliations, most people understand that it is absurd for Republicans in Congress to support huge tax breaks for billionaires while pushing for cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. They understand that the recent Republican health care proposal which would have thrown 24 million Americans off of their health insurance, substantially raised premiums for older workers and defunded Planned Parenthood while, at the same time, providing almost $300 billion in tax breaks to the top 2 percent is a disgraceful idea.”
