Florida Democrats Join Students for #MarchForOurLives

In every corner of Florida, Democrats stood with students who were marching for their lives, demanding stronger gun laws. In Parkland, over 20,000 people marched, in Orlando, over 25,000 people marched, and thousands more in Miami Beach, Tampa and Jacksonville.

Democrats held over 30 voter registration drives at marches and events across the state, with more than 1,000 Floridians committing to volunteer to elect Democrats in 2018.

“We continue to be encouraged, inspired and impressed with the young people who so bravely started this movement,” said FDP Chair Terrie Rizzo.

“The movement doesn’t stop here – we are registering young people to vote, engaging them to volunteer to elect candidates that reflect their values and work to vote out the politicians who don’t. No one should underestimate the power of these young people.”

Jessica,18, and Woodline, 24, organized the march in Pensacola, and were helping to preregister teens at the rally.

“We don’t want our kids to grow up afraid to go to school like we are,” Jessica said.
