While the Republican Party of Florida is embracing racist and divisive speakers like Dinesh D’Souza, the Florida Democratic Party will use our annual meeting to highlight the most diverse leadership and staff in Florida Democratic Party history and implement historic investments in persuasion and Get Out the Vote Programs for African American, Hispanic and rural constituencies across the state.
Ahead of Leadership Blue, when more than 1,000 Democrats will convene in Hollywood to strategize, train and plan for the 2018 midterm elections, Vivian Rodriguez and Karen Green who serve as vice chairs of the Florida Democratic Party Diversity and Inclusion Committee, released the following statement:
“We couldn’t be more proud to be members of the Florida Democratic Party, where diversity is celebrated and honored. This weekend at Leadership Blue, our minority caucuses will meet to discuss the important issues facing our communities. As we look to make history in the 2018 midterm elections, we are proud to be represented by the most diverse leadership and staff in Party history – representing every community of Florida.
“By contrast, this week the Republican Party of Florida will meet for their convention, and have chose to let Dinesh D’Souza, the man who made fun of Parkland students in the wake of the shooting at Marjory Douglas Stoneman High school, as a featured speaker. The policies they continue to push are anti-immigrant, and divisive in nature.
“Every day we at the Democratic Party continues to work to be a more inclusive and diverse party, who supports policies that lift up all Floridians.”
