On Wednesday, Florida Democrats held a first of its kind debate at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. Florida’s five Democratic candidates for governor, “engaged in a debate that showcased the variety of personalities, policy ideas and life stories on display in the race.“
The location of the debate of particular importance, FDP Chair Terrie Rizzo noted to reporters, “Lee County, where Wednesday’s debate was held, is strongly GOP-leaning, but Rizzo said it’s important for Democrats to make inroads and — at a minimum — limit the GOP’s margin of victory in such areas.”
“It’s controlling the margins and getting out every vote that we can,” Rizzo said.
