Over 200 field organizers participate in GOTV training ahead of midterm election
In preparation for Get Out The Vote (GOTV), over 200 field organizers met for training this week put on by the Florida Democratic Party. The two-day intensive training was done in partnership with organizers from DCCC, House and Senate Victory, and Miami-Dade Committee for Progress.
“This is truly a team effort, we are training more than 200 new organizers on how to spread our message to every corner of Florida,” said Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Juan Penalosa.
The party flew in experts from across the country to help train organizers in the core fundamentals of getting out the vote and in new technologies that will be used in the field for the first time.
“For the first time in decades, Florida Democrats are running a state-wide coordinated campaign in a midterm election,” said Penalosa. “Every corner of the state will be covered by Democratic organizers and we believe the investments we’ve made in our field program over the last 18 months will be the deciding factor on November 6th.”
Lt. Governor Nominee Chris King kicked off the training, and organizers received pep talks from Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith and HD-47 Candidate Anna Eskamani. The event closed with a call-in from Mayor Gillum.
“This race will be won on on the ground talking to voters about the issues that matter, and this is the grassroots army we’ve been waiting for,” said Lt. Governor Nominee Chris King.
