Despite Floridians Overwhelmingly Opposing Arming Teachers, Republicans Continue to Push SB 7030
A new poll from Quinnipiac shows a majority of voters want stricter gun laws, and fewer guns in our schools and communities. These numbers come as GOP lawmakers again are trying to push through legislation that would arm school teachers–– something that 57 percent of Florida voters oppose.
Quinnipiac poll highlights:
“Florida voters have stated loudly and clearly that they don’t want guns in our schools, yet DeSantis and Republicans continue to push legislation that would do exactly the opposite,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo. “Teachers don’t want this, parents don’t want this, our state does not want this. This bill threatens the safety of our students and teachers. It’s time for Republicans to drop the NRA’s dangerous agenda, and start focusing on the issues Floridians care about.”
