As youth activists called on world leaders — and the leaders of Florida — to address the alarming rise in global temperatures that could threaten humanity in the coming decades, the Florida Democrats stand with them and we hear them.
On September 20, youth climate activist, Greta Thunberg, lead a worldwide student strike to raise awareness on climate change.
Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, released the following statement:
“The Florida Democrats stand with the youth of the Sunshine State and young people around the world in calling for action to address climate change. Florida’s coastline is in danger of rising sea levels and increasingly more powerful storms, and all of Florida is put at risk by the potentially catastrophic events climate change could one day take our planet. Now is the time to act and demand our state and national leaders tackle climate change and stop doing the bidding of the oil industry.”
