Following today’s vote of the Florida Public Service Commission on energy efficiency standards, Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo issued the following statement:
“Commissioner Nikki Fried was right — Florida’s current energy efficiency process is obsolete. Today, the Florida Public Service Commission agreed with her by voting 4-1 against allowing utilities to set energy conservation goals near zero. Floridians are fortunate to have a true champion fighting to deliver real energy efficiency standards and standing up for Florida’s energy future!”
In September, Fried pushed for a new process to set energy efficiency standards for Florida utilities. Last month, Fried hosted the first state conference on energy and climate change in 11 years.
