Florida Democratic Party Begins "Corrupt Carlos Countdown"

With Corrupt Carlos Giménez poised to enter the race for Florida’s 26th Congressional district on Wednesday, we’re counting down his greatest hits of grift and corruption.

TODAY: Taxpayer-funded handouts to his friends and donors. 

FDP spokesperson Luisana Pérez Fernández released the following statement:

“Corrupt Carlos has been using his power and influence to enrich himself and his special interest backers for years. Today, we are highlighting Corrupt Carlos’ practice of repeatedly pushing for lucrative no-bid contracts to firms that are tied to his family and political campaign. Before he declares his candidacy for Congress, the people of South Florida deserve to know why Corrupt Carlos awarded tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to his friends, family, and donors.”

• Corrupt Carlos awarded Odebrecht a $65 million no-bid contract for work on Miami International Airport. Odebrecht contributed $15,000 to Giménez’s PAC. 
• Corrupt Carlos argued in favor of a $130 million contract for Munilla Construction Management (MCM), one of the firms responsible for the FIU pedestrian bridge that collapsed and killed six people. Giménez has deep family ties to MCM.
