Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate and Fair Fight founder Stacey Abrams and the Florida Democratic Party hosted a “Let Us Vote” Voter Protection Town Hall that discussed the importance of youth voting, and why protecting every vote matters to win in 2020.
Before the town hall, Abrams and Rizzo discussed the importance of the youth vote with leaders of the College Democrats: Isaly Ortiz, Barry University; Robert Crohan, Florida International University; Rachel Stempler, University of Miami; Michael Kester, University of Central Florida; and Gabby Miernik, Florida Atlantic University.
“In 2018, almost 60,000 people voted at the 12 college campus polling locations around Florida — over half of those that voted on campus were under the age of 30. Your vote will not just determine your future, but the future of America. When Florida’s young people vote, Florida wins.”
“Voting is power and I will not let anyone steal my power. No one is going to say how American I am, I’m going to tell you at the ballot box,” Abrams said to the assembled college students. She emphasized in several ways how important voting is for young people.
“Register, report and volunteer,” she urged them.
