As more than 472,000 Floridians applied for unemployment benefits in the last three weeks, a new report indicates that Donald Trump could be delaying stimulus assistance for millions of Americans because he wanted his signature on the checks. Jobless Floridians have already struggled to get assistance because Florida Republicans designed an unemployment system to fail and Governor DeSantis has still not properly fixed its multitude of problems, including a defunct website and meager benefits.
“While Floridians suffer, Donald Trump is treating this crisis as a vanity project,” said Florida Democratic Party chair Terrie Rizzo, “People needed that assistance weeks ago, but have to wait because Trump wants to play politics. We cannot afford another four years of ego trips in the face of crisis; we need to elect Joe Biden in November.”
Washington Post: In unprecedented move, Treasury orders Trump’s name printed on stimulus checks
“The Treasury Department has ordered President Trump’s name be printed on stimulus checks the Internal Revenue Service is rushing to send to tens of millions of Americans, a process that could slow their delivery by a few days, senior IRS officials said.
“The unprecedented decision, finalized late Monday, means that when recipients open the $1,200 paper checks the IRS is scheduled to begin sending to 70 million Americans in coming days, “President Donald J. Trump” will appear on the left side of the payment.”
