Statement: Florida Democratic Party on News of Strongest Economic Growth Since 1984
Newly released GDP numbers showed that the US economy grew by 5.7% in 2021 and 6.9% in the final three months of the year – the fastest economic growth for a single year in nearly four decades. In response, Florida Democratic Party Chair Manny Diaz released the following statement:
“These GDP numbers are further proof that President Biden’s economic plan is getting results for working people. In 2021, we added 6.4 million jobs nationwide, the most in American history. Thanks to his leadership, our economy is rebounding much faster than expected, and you can see the proof in Florida.
“The fact is that President Biden’s American Rescue Plan and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are putting more money directly into the pockets of working families in Florida. And even though every single Florida Republican in Washington voted against those policies, they are now scrambling to take credit for them. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are going to do everything possible to build on this progress and continue creating good jobs and lowering costs for Floridians.”
