Marco Rubio Skips Hearing On Protecting Seniors From Financial Scams
Marco Rubio, who recently has refused to denounce a Republican plan that could raise taxes on thousands of Florida seniors and lead to cuts in Social Security and Medicare, failed to show up to another hearing of the Senate Aging Committee today. While the committee heard testimony from experts on protecting retirees’ financial security and preventing scams targeting vulnerable seniors, Rubio was again missing in action.
“Across our state, Florida seniors are confronting a higher cost of living, and they deserve a leader who will fight for their financial security. Yet Marco Rubio is failing to do his job, and can’t even muster the courage to denounce his party leader’s plan to raise taxes on retirees and threaten the benefits they worked their entire lives to earn,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.
