Marco Rubio has repeatedly voted against funding for Florida’s police departments, rejecting legislation that funded pay raises to Florida law enforcement and invested in new equipment for local police departments.
Check out Rubio’s anti-law enforcement record here:
Rubio voted against bipartisan legislation this year to fund new body cameras for multiple Florida police departments, and dedicate new funds for the Capitol Police.
Rubio voted against the American Rescue Plan which gave pay bonuses to Florida first responders and law enforcement, and included funding for hiring more police officers and investments in new equipment to cut down on violent crime.
He recently opposed bipartisan legislation to help law enforcement better investigate and stop domestic terrorism.
Last fall, Rubio opposed legislation that would avert a government shutdown and threaten the paychecks of police officers who keep the U.S. Capitol and our borders safe. He has repeatedlyvoted against funding measures that provide for law enforcement at the Department of Homeland Security.
“Marco Rubio plays politics with law enforcement, never failing to put his party and political career before the men and women who keep Floridians safe every day. If he had his way, police officers across the state would be getting paid less and have fewer resources to keep them safe on the job,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.
