A breaking report from the AP sheds new light into Marco Rubio’s best friend David Rivera’s corrupt ties to the Maduro regime, but Rubio is still refusing to answer questions about their relationship. Rivera raked in millions of dollars working for Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, a contract he won because of his close friendship with Rubio. As the Miami Herald reported, Rubio and Rivera spoke “on a daily basis” while Rivera was lobbying on behalf of the Maduro regime to “soften Rubio.”
“Marco Rubio has stood by his best friend and Maduro regime crony David Rivera for years despite ongoing investigations into Rivera’s corruption. As new details emerge about Rivera taking millions from Maduro’s regime, Rubio needs to stop ducking questions and tell Floridians why he’s refused to distance himself from David Rivera,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox
While Rubio is dodging questions about his long time friend, Rivera insists the two are still close. Now the AP has revealed that thousands of Rivera’s text messages – potentially including those with Rubio – are part of an ongoing lawsuit over Rivera’s lobbying contracts. Rivera also remains under federal criminal investigation for failing to register as an agent of Maduro’s regime.
