Marco Rubio Still Thinks Protecting Marriage Equality Is A Waste Of Time
In a speech at the National Conservatism Conference today, Marco Rubio once again made it clear that he would not support legislation in the Senate to protect marriage equality, and thinks the issue is a waste of time. Rubio previously attacked a plan to codify same-sex and interracial marriage rights as “a stupid waste of time,” and told an audience today that the issue was irrelevant, despite the Supreme Court opening the door to a marriage equality challenge.
“Marco Rubio has sent a clear message to Floridians that he won’t stand up to protect their constitutional rights and freedoms. Floridians deserve leaders who will put them first, not a craven politician like Marco Rubio who caves to powerful interests when they try to hurt Floridians,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.
