Marco Rubio voted today against the DISCLOSE Act, common sense legislation to eliminate anonymous, unlimited political spending from our elections by requiring super PACs and other dark money groups to report their donors.
“Marco Rubio hardly shows up to work in the Senate, and when he does he hurts Florida. Voting to protect dark money donors instead of protecting our elections from corruption is a perfect example of how Rubio caves to his donors and party bosses’ agenda instead of doing what’s best for Floridians,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.
This isn’t the first time Rubio has sided with his wealthy donors to oppose popular measures to crack down on political corruption. Earlier this year he voted against the Freedom To Vote Act, legislation that contained similar provisions to shine a light on dark money donations. Rubio called the legislation “ridiculous.”
