Breaking: Marco Rubio Leads New Plan To Raise Floridians’ Health Care Costs
Today Marco Rubio helped introduce new legislation in the Senate to repeal the prescription drug price reforms in the Inflation Reduction Act, backing a plan that would raise millions of Florida seniors’ health care costs.
“Marco Rubio barely shows up for work, and when he does, he hurts Floridians by caving to his special interest donors. Rubio’s campaigns have taken over a million dollars from the drug industries, and now he’s backing a dangerous new plan to raise Florida seniors’ health care costs. Forcing Floridians who are already struggling with a rising cost of living to pay more for their prescription drugs is downright cruel,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.
Rubio’s legislation would raise health care costs for Floridians in three key ways:
- Canceling the plan to allow Medicare to negotiate cheaper prescription drug prices, which will save taxpayers tens of billions of dollars every year and lower the price of drugs for millions.
- Ending the cap on out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs, a provision set to lower prices for over 100,000 Floridians.
- Repealing the provision to protect seniors from price gouging by requiring drug companies that raise costs higher than the rate of inflation to pay a penalty.
