Today, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu is coming to Florida as he tries to grow his national profile ahead of a potential presidential run.
While Sununu is trying to rewrite his record in an attempt to occupy a more “moderate” lane of the 2024 GOP primary field, a closer look at this record shows that he’s just another extremist.
Here’s what you need to know about who Chris Sununu really is:
Last week, Sununu boasted about being ranked the most “fiscally conservative” governor in the country and claimed that New Hampshire is ranked number one in “personal freedom,” above Florida. Sununu reveled in this ranking of his conservative credentials by saying, “sorry Ron, you’re number two”.
In 2019, Sununu described himself as a “Trump guy through and through,” only starting to criticize the former president when he saw an opportunity to expand his own national profile.
Sununu has bragged about being the “first governor in 40 years to sign an abortion ban.” The ban does not include exceptions for victims of rape and incest and criminalizes doctors.
In 2022, Sununu bearhugged the far-right, election-denying candidate Don Bolduc, supporting Bolduc even as the candidate continued pushing conspiracy theories after becoming the nominee.
