REMINDER: DeSantis Opposed Funding for Local Law Enforcement
As Ron DeSantis holds yet another event to tout his extreme “Florida Blueprint” at the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police today, here is what you need to know about his record of opposing funding for public safety efforts in Florida:
- DeSantis opposed the American Rescue Plan – which included funding for local law enforcement calling it “Washington at its worst.”
- After criticizing the American Rescue Plan, DeSantis used the funds to give out bonuses to law enforcement officers and first responders. The bonuses were funded entirely by the American Rescue Plan programs.
- DeSantis misled Floridians and took credit for President Biden’s American Rescue Plan that included funding for local law enforcement.
