FACT CHECK: DeSantis Opposed Federal Funding for Local Law Enforcement
Ron DeSantis has loudly and continuously opposed President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, which includes millions in public safety funding for Florida. While DeSantis brags about signing bonuses for police officers, it’s thanks to President Biden and Democrats that those bonuses are possible.
HERE ARE THE FACTS:
- DeSantis opposed the American Rescue Plan – which included funding for local law enforcement and first responders calling it “Washington at its worst.”
- After criticizing the American Rescue Plan, DeSantis used the funds to give out bonuses to law enforcement officers and first responders. The bonuses were funded entirely by the American Rescue Plan programs.
- DeSantis misled Floridians and took credit for President Biden’s American Rescue Plan that included funding for local law enforcement and first responders.
