From One Extremist to Another, DeSantis Endorsed by Fellow Freedom Caucus Member
Today, Ron DeSantis’s shadow campaign received its first congressional endorsement from Rep. Chip Roy of Texas, a member of the House Freedom Caucus that Ron DeSantis helped found. In Congress, Chip Roy has built his reputation as a fellow MAGA extremist that has pushed for some of the same kinds of policies at the federal level that DeSantis is pushing at the state level.
Chip Roy’s Record of Extremism Includes:
- Defending the profits of Big Pharma CEOs and proclaiming that he hopes, “they make a lot more!”
- Joining the House Republicans who announced plans to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act as soon as Republicans won the House majority, even though doing so could raise health care costs for Americans across the country.
- Refusing to support a budget that DID NOT include cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
- Proudly supporting Texas’s extreme abortion ban that does not include any exceptions for victims of rape and incest.
