On the seventh anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting, Chair of the Florida Democratic Party Nikki Fried released the following statement:
“The Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando was the deadliest attack on the LGBTQ+ community in our nation’s history. As we commemorate the seventh anniversary of this targeted assault, the Florida Democratic Party remembers each of the 49 lives cut short, the 53 wounded and many more who live with the scars of this tragic day. At a time when the LGBTQ+ community remains under attack and gun control laws are being rolled back, today is a painful reminder that we must continue fighting to protect the lives and rights of queer and trans Floridians. In honor of their memory, we will lead with love, ‘say gay’ loudly and proudly and call for common sense gun reforms until every space is safe. May another rainbow shine upon us today.”
