Strike Two: Federal Judge Blocks Ron’s Ban on Gender-Affirming Care
After U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle overruled Ron DeSantis’ ban on Medicaid funding for gender-affirming care, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried released the following statement:
“This is strike two for Ron DeSantis, said Chair Fried. “For the second time in as many weeks, Judge Hinkle has blocked Ron’s attacks on transgender Floridians. The LGBTQ+ community has faced relentless attacks in Ron’s culture wars, and I welcome the decision by the court.
“When Ron and his cronies aren’t busy violating election laws and ethical norms, he’s flouting federal protections guaranteed by Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. You’d think a graduate of Yale and Harvard Law would be able to read the laws he was elected to uphold.”
