CHAIR NIKKI FRIED CALLS ON GOVERNOR DESANTIS TO LOWER FLAGS IN HONOR OF JIMMY BUFFETT
In recognition of the passing of Jimmy Buffett, Florida Democratic Chair Nikki Fried issued the following statement:
“Jimmy Buffett took great pride in being a Floridian and passionately fought to protect our state, understanding the necessity of protecting our environment and the very real threat of the climate crisis on our shores.
“For so many of us, his music is the soundtrack of our endless summers. Jimmy’s lyrics pay tribute to the history and culture of our state — his memory will live on in piano bars and boat radios for generations to come.
“In honor of his profound impact on our state, I’m calling on Governor DeSantis to lower all flags to half-mast to commemorate the passing of a true Florida icon.”
