Today, the Florida Democratic Party announced its endorsement of Johnny Farias for State Representative in Florida House District 118.
Johnny Farias is a Navy veteran, electrician, and former Miami-Dade Community Council member who immigrated from Ecuador to the United States at age 4. A family man with a passion for giving back to his community, Farias is running for office to address Florida’s out-of-control affordability crisis.
“Floridians need leaders who are focused on tackling the real issues affecting our families,” said Farias. “Homeowners are being crushed by the highest insurance premiums in the nation and a staggeringly high cost of living. Miami-Dade County has lost over 100,000 residents since 2020 due to the same pressures. If elected, I promise the people of HD 118 that I will work to create a coalition of fixers in Tallahassee — a group of legislators who will create and implement solutions to address the pressing needs of our community.”
“Johnny Farias is an outstanding community leader,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried, “and the Florida Democratic Party is thrilled to endorse his candidacy for office in this special election. Residents of Miami-Dade County, like so many across Florida, are suffering due to skyrocketing costs of living, and Florida Republicans have offered no real solutions. Tallahassee needs leaders like Johnny Farias — problem solvers of high integrity who will put the needs of Floridians first.”
The special election for Florida House District 118 will be held on December 5, 2023.
