Chair Nikki Fried slams Matt Gaetz for extremist political stunt that almost cost Floridians their paychecks
Today, House Democrats worked across the aisle for a bipartisan solution to avert an extreme Republican shutdown, which was then passed by the Senate. In response, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:
“Today, House and Senate Democrats did the job that Matt Gaetz and his cronies refused to do — put aside the political stunts and do what’s best for the American people,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Florida Democrats applaud them for refusing to cave to extremist Republicans obsessed with burning down our government from the inside.
“While disaster was averted at the final hour, Matt Gaetz dangled millions of people over a cliff for weeks with Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott cheering him on from the sidelines. Floridians won’t forget that they were more than willing to sacrifice people’s pantries and paychecks to prove a political point.”
