FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY SLAMS MATT GAETZ’S CHAOS CAUCUS AS THE HOUSE REACHES THREE WEEKS WITHOUT A SPEAKER
Today is the 21st day without a Speaker of the House. In response, The Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:
“After three embarrassing attempts to elect insurrectionist Jim Jordan as Speaker, House Republicans are more divided than ever,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Matt Gaetz and his Chaos Caucus have broken one of our most important American institutions during a time of global crisis – this circus is threatening our national security. Voters can’t trust the Republican Party to govern if they can’t even govern themselves.
“One of the seven Republican candidates for Speaker is Byron Donalds — a Florida Man and member of the Freedom Caucus who hasn’t even finished his second term in office or passed a single piece of legislation during his time in Congress. He is best known for being a talking head on Fox News. It’s appalling that so many Florida Republicans would endorse someone so clearly unqualified for the job.
“When the dust eventually settles on Gaetz’s gambit, his legacy will be bringing the House to a halt over scoring political points — and raising the profile of a future rival in the process. Embarrassing.
