On Tuesday, the Honorable Miguel Cardona, visited South Florida for a meeting with Latino community leaders at one of the Borinquen medical centers in Miami. In response, the Florida Democratic Party issued the following statement:
“It was an honor to welcome the Hon. Miguel Cardona for a visit to our state to meet with leaders of our Hispanic community in South Florida,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “As a proud Puerto Rican, he understands the needs and lived experiences of Hispanics in Florida, especially the Puerto Rican community – the second largest Latino community in the state. We look forward to welcoming the the Hon. Miguel Cardona back to Florida soon.”
“It’s important for members of the Biden-Harris administration to be visible in South Florida and this visit demonstrates their commitment to not just listening to our communities, but turning those words into action.”
The roundtable was attended by a diverse coalition of Latino community leaders, representing Puerto Ricans, Cuban Americans, and others, and focused on key issues impacting Hispanic communities, particularly students and educators.
