FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY RESPONDS TO REDISTRICTING CASE TIMELINE
In response to reports that the lawsuit against Ron DeSantis’s racially gerrymandered district maps has stalled in the courts, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:
“Ron’s racially gerrymandered maps unfairly stripped representation from Black voters in Jacksonville,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Targeting Black voters as a political tool is illegal and unacceptable in all cases, and our justice system has an obligation to rule on those accusations as quickly as possible.
“We know that justice delayed is justice denied, so we urge the Florida Supreme Court to reconsider their timeline and make sure this case has a speedy resolution. The voters of former Congressional District 5 deserve nothing less.”
