FLORIDA DEMOCRATS CONDEMN THE ARREST OF HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER IN VENEZUELA
Following the reports in Venezuela of the arrest of prominent Human rights attorney Rocio San Miguel, the Florida Democratic Party released the following statement:
“The Maduro dictatorship continues to undermine the voice of Venezuelans in the fight for their freedom, said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “In his ambition to stay in power, Maduro’s regime is silencing well-known activists and human rights defenders who have given a voice to the Venezuelan people.”
“The entire international community must speak out and condemn the Maduro dictatorship for their continued attacks against human rights. The arrest of Rocío San Miguel is an act that must be called out. At the same time, Maduro is looking for every possible excuse not to hold fair and transparent elections in Venezuela because he knows he no longer has the support of the people. The Florida Democratic Party will continue to stand in solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the fight for their freedom.”
