FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY STATEMENT ON TRUMP TAKING CREDIT FOR FLORIDA’S EXTREME ABORTION BAN
This morning, Donald Trump released a video statement bragging about being “proudly the person responsible” for extreme state abortion bans like Florida’s – which bans abortions before most women know they’re pregnant. Trump has made clear he supports restrictions on interstate travel, the criminalization of doctors, and restrictions on contraception. He has also offered no national protections for IVF, and he has previously refused to say if he’ll sign a bill protecting that or other fertility treatments. In response the Florida Democratic Party released the following statement:
“Let me be very clear: Donald Trump is responsible for Florida’s extreme abortion ban. In less than 30 days, women in Florida will be living under one of the strictest bans in the country with virtually no exceptions – and he’s proud of it. He has repeatedly bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade and said women who seek reproductive health care should be punished,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “In Florida and across the country, women are being denied critical health care, and it’s because of Donald Trump.”
“For every woman in Florida who cares about making her own health care decisions, there is only one option to guarantee reproductive freedom for all: voting for President Biden and against Donald Trump’s extreme bans.”
