Today, Rick Scott voted against the most significant border security bill in decades for the second time. The bipartisan bill, which was endorsed by Border Patrol agents, would make historic investments in securing the border and combating fentanyl trafficking. Scott previously demanded border security provisions included in the legislation but was the first to line up in Washington to kill the bill and vote against it at Trump’s request.
Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried issued the following statement in response:
“Rick Scott got a second chance to address the border crisis and he refused. Scott’s self-serving record is clear: he would rather score political points than keep Floridians safe, secure the border, and combat fentanyl trafficking. Floridians will remember Scott’s refusal to stand up for them and hold him accountable in November.”
