Florida Democrats Slam Rick Scott’s Opposition to Contraception Access on Anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut
1965 Supreme Court Ruling Prohibited States From Banning Contraceptives for Married Couples
Tallahassee, FL — On the anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut – the landmark Supreme Court ruling protecting Americans’ right to use contraceptives – the Florida Democratic Party issued the following statement on Rick Scott voting against protecting access to contraception earlier this week:
“Two months after Florida’s abortion ban went into effect, anti-choice extremists like Rick Scott have set their sights on restricting Floridian’s access to contraception. Scott wants to rip away reproductive freedoms and set women back decades,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “Floridians know Scott won’t protect their rights and will hold him accountable in November.”
