1.7 Million Floridians Rely on NFIP to Protect Their Homes
Last week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that tens of thousands of National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policy holders in Lee County will retain their discounted rate, worth more than $25 million annually. The Florida Democratic Party released the following statement to remind Floridians that Rick Scott voted repeatedly against funding the NFIP:
“Rick Scott doesn’t care about the millions of Floridians who depend on NFIP to protect their homes — that’s why he voted six times against funding this critical program,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Alex Wood. “While Floridians face the devastating impacts of worsening extreme weather, Scott has done nothing to protect our most vulnerable communities. In November, Floridians will hold Scott accountable for his self-serving agenda.”
