Florida Democratic Party Congratulates the Newest Democratic Members of the Florida Legislature
Tonight, five Florida House races and two Florida Senate races have been decided due to Republicans’ failure to field a candidate in seven districts. These newly elected and re-elected members join the nine Democratic representatives and two Democratic senators who were elected without Republican opposition at the qualifying deadline in June.
The Florida Democratic Party would like to congratulate the following members-elect on their victories tonight:
- Rita Harris (re-elected), House District 44
- Mitch Rosenwald, House District 98
- Daryl Campbell (re-elected), House District 99
- Wallace Aristide, House District 107
- Ashley Viola Gantt (re-elected), House District 109
- Tracie Davis (re-elected), Senate District 5
- Geraldine Thompson (re-elected), Senate District 15
“Congratulations to our Democratic members-elect,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “The House and Senate Democratic Caucuses are made up of some of the finest public servants Florida has to offer. I’m proud to see Democratic leaders returning to the Capitol and excited to see new members join the fight against the extremism coming from the Republican supermajority.
