FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY FILES PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST DEMANDING TRANSPARENCY ON ANTI-AMENDMENT 4 WEBSITE

Yesterday, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) launched a new government website targeting the Amendment 4 campaign. This website is a clear violation of Florida law which prohibits any official government agency from participating in campaign activity.

Today, the Florida Democratic Party submitted a public records request demanding answers and transparency. The request seeks information on when the agency began working on the website, who was involved and if any third parties were engaged.

“Ron and his buddies know they’re losing, and they’re willing to do anything — including breaking the law — to rig the results in their favor,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “This website is just the latest attempt by Florida Republicans to keep voters from having their say on Amendment 4 at the ballot box.

“Using state agency resources for campaign purposes is illegal and we are seeking legal remedies to have this website taken down. In the meantime, we demand that AHCA and the Executive Office of the Governor expedite our public records request. Floridians deserve government in the Sunshine, and any attempt to hide these records or delay their release is a slap in the face to voters everywhere — Democrat, independent, and Republican.”
