FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY RESPONDS TO JD VANCE’S DEBATE COMMENTS ON HAITI
In response to JD Vance’s comments on Haiti during this evening’s Vice Presidential Debate with Governor Tim Walz, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:
“Donald Trump and JD Vance made a huge mistake peddling their racist lies and false claims about the Haitian community,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Their dangerous rhetoric had real life consequences for the people of Springfield, leading to threats to schools, hospitals and city operations. We know how this kind of hate can spread — it starts with threats against one group and grows into hate for immigrants across the country. Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are the clear choice to fight back against this vitriol.”
“The Florida Democratic Party stands in solidarity with Haitians in Florida, Ohio and across the nation in condemning and calling out JD Vance for the hateful comments he’s already admitted were lies he created. Haitian Americans are a strong and resilient community who will make Trump and Vance pay for their baseless attacks at the ballot box in November.”
