Florida Democratic Party Announces Latest Take Back Local Slate for Runoff Elections

Today, the Florida Democratic Party announced its slate of Take Back Local candidates for the December 2025 runoff elections. After years of Republican chaos and dysfunction, voters are ready for steady leadership that delivers real solutions, not partisan infighting.

Among the candidates leading the charge is Eileen Higgins, who has the chance to make history as the first female Mayor of the City of Miami and the first Democratic Mayor elected in nearly three decades.

“The Take Back Local program is our way of investing in candidates who reflect the values and priorities of their communities,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “From phone banking to door knocking, we’re putting in the work to reach every voter and make sure they know Democrats are the ones fighting for them. Local races matter and this December, we’re all in.”

“Floridians are tired of the chaos and ready for leaders who show up, listen, and deliver,” Fried continued. “That’s exactly what our Take Back Local candidates will do.”

The Take Back Local slate for the December 2025 runoff elections includes:

  • Matthew Crowley, Winter Haven, District 4 – Runoff 12/2
  • Monica Matteo-Salinas, Miami Beach, Group I – Runoff 12/9
  • Eileen Higgins, City of Miami Mayor – Runoff 12/9
  • Chris Dzadovsky, Fort Pierce City Commission, District 2 – Runoff 1/13
