Florida Democratic Party Responds to Trump’s Reckless Call for U.S. Veterans and Lawmakers to be Executed for Telling the Truth

Today, in a reckless, unprecedented, and extremely dangerous Truth Social post, President Trump called for the execution of members of Congress and his political adversaries. Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried issued the following statement upon learning of the post:

“Let’s be clear: The President calling for the execution of members of Congress and his political adversaries is not normal,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried.  

“Those who took an oath to protect and defend our Constitution know that it is a lifetime commitment. Every order the president gives is not lawful, and his belief that he is above the law is dangerous and will only lead us further down the path to authoritarianism. 

Reminding others to live our shared values of preserving justice, freedom, and democracy should never be met with such a brazen and shocking violation of norms or calls for political violence. This is not about left or right, Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative–over the past decade, President Trump has continuously ramped up his extreme calls for violence and has repeatedly put lives in danger with his menacing rhetoric. All Americans should reject this call for violence and any attempts to normalize political violence in our society.”
