THE SENATE’S SHORT-TERM DEAL TO OPEN THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT A REAL SOLUTION: AMERICANS DESERVE HEALTHCARE

Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried released the following statement in response to reports of a short-term deal to end the Republican government shutdown:

“A temporary deal to end the shutdown without healthcare is not a real solution. 4.7 million of Floridians are still at risk of losing their health care in 2026. 

Republicans have once again betrayed the American people. This deal will force millions of Americans to choose between medicine or groceries. It doesn’t have to be this way. A deal without health care is unacceptable — plain and simple.

The fight is not over. We’re calling on Floridians to share their stories and demand better from their elected officials. Call your US senators. Call your US representatives. Tell them to protect your care.”
