ICYMI: Rick Scott Refuses to Say if He Will Accept Debate Invitations
Debbie Mucarsel-Powell has Agreed to Three Statewide, Televised Debates
Last week, Rick Scott refused to answer when asked if he will accept the three televised debates invitations agreed to by his Democratic opponent, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. Scott continues to ignore the invitations and hasn’t done a sit-down TV interview in Florida since June.
Scott’s strategy is simple: he’s dodging the debates because he can’t defend his toxic agenda: banning abortion, ending Social Security and Medicare as we know them, and raising taxes on the middle class.

See below for a sample of what Scott is scared to be asked on the debate stage:
- What do you say to pregnant women in Florida who’ve been denied health care because of the abortion ban you endorsed?
- Did you think you could get away with voting against protecting access to IVF treatment and then lying about it?
- Why do you think 40 percent of Floridians should pay higher taxes?
- What do you say to the millions of Florida seniors whose livelihoods would be threatened by your plan to end Social Security and Medicare as we know them?
- You “took responsibility” for overseeing the largest Medicare fraud, but now you call it “political persecution.” Did you think Floridians would forget?
