Beginning this weekend, grassroots organizers will mobilize across Florida as part of statewide effort to hold town halls in red districts. It comes following reports that the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) ordered its members to stop hosting in-person town halls.
Today, the Florida Democratic Party extends an open invitation to the Florida Republican congressional delegation to join any of the scheduled town hall events kicking off this weekend.
“If Florida Republicans really believe that what they’re doing is what’s best for the country, they should come and explain themselves to the people in their districts — and if they won’t hold town halls, we will,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “With mass firings, cuts to the VA, threats to Social Security and Medicare, attacks on immigrants, tariffs and trade wars — people deserve answers.”
There are seven town halls scheduled in Congressional Districts 1, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15 and 27 over the next week, with more expected during congressional recess later this month and next. These events are free and open to the public.
