Florida Democratic Party Demands John Maples Exit HD 87 Race as Evidence Points to Residency Violations
Tallahassee, FL — For weeks, credible sources have reported, and public records point to the fact that Jon Maples, the Republican candidate for HD 87, does not live in the district. Records show that on January 12th, Jon Maples changed his voter registration address to a motel located in Palm Beach Shores. Neighbors have noted that the address listed on his voter registration has remained vacant. Jon Maples voted using this sham address on March 14th, potentially committing voter fraud. The Florida Democratic Party released the following statement:
“Jon Maples has been dishonest with the people of House District 87, and, even worse, he may have broken the law,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “Jon has either been unwilling or unable to present clear and convincing evidence that he is a resident of the district when voting on March 14th. While Trump may refuse to follow the law, that doesn’t mean his handpicked choice for this seat in the Florida House should be allowed to break the law as well.”
“The statute is clear: Florida law requires voters to use their true and lawful residence when registering to vote, and anyone running to represent a community must live in the district by Election Day. Jon Maples didn’t live or vote in the district before the primary, tried to lie his way around it with a fake address, and then cast a ballot in bad faith. This is wrong and it’s illegal. The people of Florida deserve better than someone who would flagrantly break the rules for personal gain.”
“Luckily, there is a candidate in HD 87 ready, willing, and living in the district who can serve. Emily Gregory is a Treasure Coast native that planted deep roots in Jupiter. She has spent her life fighting for the people of the area. A proud mom, Army wife, and public health professional, Emily knows this community and is ready to represent them in Tallahassee on day one. She will tackle the affordability crisis head on and will be laser focused on making life better so everyday Floridians can thrive. That’s the kind of leadership this district deserves and that is exactly what Emily will deliver.”
