Florida Democratic Party Applauds the Election of Representative Gallop Franklin, II as House Democratic Leader Designate

TALLAHASSEE, FL –  Yesterday, the Florida House Democratic Caucus voted to designate Representative Gallop Franklin, II (HD-8) the House Democratic Leader for the 2028-2030 cycle. Representative Franklin will assume the role following the 2026-2028 term of current House Leader Designate Christine Hunschofsky. The Florida Democratic Party released the following statement:

“The people of Florida will have a strong advocate for years to come in Rep. Gallop Franklin as he assumes this place of leadership in the House,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried.

“Though only in his sophomore term, Rep. Franklin has continually focused on the needs of Floridians, especially as it pertains to healthcare and improving health outcomes for people across the state. My fellow student government president is no stranger to hard work and building consensus, skills I am sure will serve him well in this role.

As a pharmacist and legislator Rep. Franklin is building a legacy focused on well being and economic development.  His leadership will ensure our children, communities, and businesses can thrive. I applaud the House Democratic Caucus on this wonderful selection. It will have a positive lasting impact for the people of the State of Florida.”
