Florida Democrats Respond to Increasing Gas Prices

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Earlier this month, Ron DeSantis declined the requests of Florida’s House and Senate Democrats to suspend Florida’s gas tax and provide needed relief to Florida’s consumers. Yesterday, as he signed legislation renaming Palm Beach International Airport after the President, gas prices surged to over $4 per gallon. The Florida Democratic Party issued the following statement.

“While the President brags about his luxurious library and brand new ballrooms, every day Floridians are facing sky-rocketing costs of living,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “Republicans did nothing in 60 days of legislative session to lower costs or address the affordability crisis. Democrats had a plan to lower costs for everyday Floridians.

”Today’s surging gas prices are a reminder that as Floridians are facing rising costs of housing, property insurance, and everyday expenses, Republicans are failing to keep Florida affordable.”
