FLORIDA DEMOCRATS ARE UNITED TO TAKE BACK FLORIDA

Florida, this is our moment. We enter the general election with a dynamic ticket, a renewed sense of possibility, and an opportunity to build the broad coalition it will take to win.

Angie Nixon, David Jolly, Gwen Graham, Jose Javier Rodriguez, Annette Taddeo, Joey Mendoza Atkins, and Democrats running up and down the ballot can together present Florida with a new direction after 30 years of one-party Republican rule.

At the top of that ticket is Angie Nixon, a community organizer, small business owner, and proven fighter for working people who has spent her career building power from the ground up. From her service within the Florida Democratic Party and her work as a union organizer to her leadership in the Florida Legislature, Angie understands that politics should be about actually improving people’s everyday lives. She has never been afraid to take on powerful interests or to stand up for all communities too often ignored by Tallahassee, or fight for an economy where working people, not corporations and the well-connected, come first.

David Jolly has demonstrated a willingness to put principle ahead of party and country ahead of political ambition. He has spoken out against the extremism that has consumed today’s Republican Party and built a broad coalition of Floridians who believe our state deserves leadership focused on solving problems rather than manufacturing division. As Governor, he will have the opportunity to turn the page on years of one-party Republican rule and bring accountability and responsible leadership back to Tallahassee.

Together, our nominees give us the opportunity to speak to Floridians in every corner of our state: working families struggling with the cost of living, seniors worried about their healthcare and retirement, young people wondering whether they can afford to build a future here, and voters who simply want leaders focused on making their lives better.

The contrast could not be clearer. Under close to 30 years of Republican rule, Floridians are paying more for housing, insurance, healthcare, groceries, and education. Republicans will spend the next ten weeks trying to divide Democrats, define our nominees on their terms, and turn our differences into reasons to stay home or abandon our ticket. We cannot let them.

Democrats must stand united around a belief in what Florida can be: a state where every Floridian has the opportunity to be healthy, prosperous, and safe; where families can afford healthcare and a home; where good jobs allow people to build a future; and where our public schools are once again a source of opportunity and pride.

Our nominees are laying out an affirmative vision for getting there, from Angie Nixon’s call for universal healthcare to David Jolly’s call for a renaissance in public education. Across our ticket, Democrats are putting forward ideas aimed at lowering costs, strengthening public schools, expanding access to healthcare, and protecting fundamental freedoms and democracy.

That is the work ahead of us. We, as DNC Members and officers of the Florida Democratic Party, join millions of voters who are excited about the Democratic ticket and unequivocally support the nominees Democratic voters have chosen. We are excited to stand together behind Angie Nixon, David Jolly, Gwen Graham, Jose Javier Rodriguez, Annette Taddeo, Joey Mendoza Atkins, and our entire ticket and the vision for Florida they are putting forward.

Sincerely,
